How to organize makeup with Z Palettes

Pro Palette Zebra (MAC&MUG eyeshadows)

About Z Palette

Z refers to Zena Shteysel, a Hollywood-based makeup artist for film and television (Dancing with the Stars), who came up with these amazing customizable magnetic empty makeup palettes. The inspiration behind the unique Z palette - as she recalled, was her problems with makeup storage and organization. Back then, the makeup palettes available on the market were made brand-specific; therefore, these palettes only fitted the particular brand's  own eyeshadows in size. But then came the Z palettes...

The innovation

Z palettes are special because they are magnetic; therefore, any product that is placed in the palette will stick and won't move around, thus protecting the makeup when carried around or travelled with. The hard plastic top closes magnetically as well. The palettes are made from cardboard, yet are still sturdy. Definitely a space-saving product!

The best thing about the Z palette is that it can fit makeup products of any kind, size, and brand: eyeshadows, blushes, bronzers, powders, even lipsticks if depotted.

Some eyeshadows are magnetized, so you just pop them in,  but others including MAC eyeshadows need the magnetic stickers which the palettes come with. You need to remove the makeup from its original container or you can buy only the pans or refills of the eyeshadows.

Another amazing charcteristic of the Z palette is that it's see-through. Most makeup artists rave about these palettes because they don't need to label palettes anymore to know what's inside them: they can color-coordinate, sort out eyeshadows, blushes, etc...

Z palettes come in a variety of sizes and colors: the SMALL size palette fits about 9 MAC eyeshadow pans, the regular LARGE one allows room for 28 MAC eyeshadow pans.

The PRO palette is an improved version of the large palette which is somewhat wider and deeper, and the magnet that closes the top is stronger.

The DOME palette as the name suggests was designed for dome-shaped products, baked products. Both the PRO&DOME palettes can fit thinner brushes as well.

The most recent is the 4U palette which is a mid-sized palette between the size of the small and the large palette.

How to depot?

The official Z palette website shows different ways of depotting makeup products, but you can also check out YouTube for videos presenting the different methods. You can even find brand-specific eyeshadow as they're being removed from their original packaging.
Personally, I prefer the straightening iron method.
